The UIA American High School curriculum is rooted in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), with a focus on enhancing students' research abilities, teamwork, and presentation skills, rather than traditional text tests. This course only has 20% of classroom time, with the remaining 80% dedicated to various immersive hands-on practices. Through interdisciplinary integration and cross disciplinary project-based learning, it helps students cope with challenges from the real world and encourages students to explore the intersections between different disciplines.
The school is located in the Dianshan Lake Scenic Area, with unique geographical advantages. As the largest freshwater lake in Shanghai and one of the sources of the Huangpu River, the school boasts stunning vast waters with various functions such as irrigation, aquaculture, shipping, water supply, and tourism. Due to its rich natural ecology, the school is able to carry out four characteristic project-based learning projects on "water source", "environment", "animal husbandry", and "agriculture", providing students with a rich material foundation for interdisciplinary research.
